Building Up Our Communities
In 1866, Huttig began as a sawmill and lumberyard by brothers Charles and William Huttig, joining a legion of other small businesses helping to rebuild and restore America in the wake of the Civil War. Since then, that spirit has permeated all we do, and it's part of why We Love Building. In our more than 130 years, we've never forgotten how important our work is to building the American Dream and giving back to our local communities.
At Huttig, we believe we're called to use our talents and abilities to help our local towns and neighborhoods. With branches all over the country, our involvement is equally diverse and ranges from local Habitat for Humanity chapters, charities and even to participation in shows like ABC Television's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Our employees are also active in community involvement efforts of their own like youth coaching, community boards and more.
Building Something Better for the Future
Part of why We Love Building so much is because it's what has helped build the American Dream for countless people and families across the country. It's not just about building something—it's about building something better. And we recognize how important environmentally sustainable practices are to building a better future for the next generation.
